- A practical understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), California Code of Regulations Title 24 Accessibility Standards, or the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA)
- Rehabilitation, employment, personnel management or the legal process of compliance
- Budget analysis, planning, program development or community resources development
- Advocacy, or the formulation and interpretation of legislation
- Consultation in the use of assistive technology
- Transportation or housing access issues for people with disabilities
Recent DAC Activities and Accomplishments:
- Coordinating with the County Dept. of Parks, Recreation & Open Space to install accessible golf carts and golf cart paths at Ancil Hoffman and Cherry Island Golf Courses
- Advising County contractors and consultants in the development and implementation of the Dept. of Transportation’s ADA Transition Plan and Pedestrian Master Plan
- Collaborating with the County Dept. of Transportation to create and present an educational video and public workshop on pedestrian access
- Submitting recommendations to the Board of Supervisors to include provisions addressing accessibility issues into Sacramento County General Plan’s Housing Element and Human Services Element
- Creating and presenting a public workshop for landlords and property managers on housing access issues for people with disabilities
- Participating annually in outreach activities and public events during Disability Awareness Month (October)
